Jesinta Franklin has revealed that her husband Lance ‘Buddy’ Franklin’ could play football beyond 2023.

The Sydney Swans superstar, 35, who has signed on to play with the team for one more year, could continue on for years to come, his wife confirmed this weekend.

‘He feels so good in his body – if his body allows, he would play for another 10 years. He lives and breathes football’ the 31-year-old told Stellar Magazine.

‘His biggest thing is, as long as he’s still contributing to the team, then he’ll continue on. It’s part of life and sport that unfortunately, there’s an expiry date.’

As for whether Buddy could play into 2024, the model says, ‘It’s open-ended; we’ll see how next year goes’.

However the WAG admitted that Buddy went back and forth on his decision before he committed to another year with the Swans.

‘It was a big decision. He was 50-50 all along – some days, he’d wake up and he was on one side of the fence. The next day, he’d be back on the other side’ she said.

In September, Buddy signed an eleventh-hour contract extension with the Sydney Swans.

Buddy, 35, shocked fans when the Swans appeared to confirm he will stay at the club next year, sharing a a succinct statement that read: ‘One more #Bloods.’

Franklin’s nine-year $10million deal with the Swans was set to expire at the end of the season and his future had long been subject of speculation.

The two-time premiership winner, however, put an end to the rumours himself on with a succinct two-word statement reading simply: ‘One more.’

The bombshell came after months of speculation suggesting Franklin could either retire or end his nine-year spell in Sydney to play for a different club.

The Herald Sun reported the Swans felt they were ‘close’ to agreeing a 12-month extension with the AFL superstar and were ‘surprised’ by reports Franklin had been linked with a move.

The four-time Coleman Medalist was left contemplating his future after the Swans tabled an offer of $500,000-a-year, a significant reduction from Franklin’s current deal which is understood to be in the $800,000-a-season region.

Jesinta and Buddy married in 2016 at Mount Wilson’s Wildenstein Gardens in the Blue Mountains, NSW, after four years of dating.

They are parents to daughter Tullulah, two, and son Rocky, one.
