MAFS Australia: Wild partner-swapping challenge for the 2023 season

Married At First Sight will include a bombshell twist in 2023.

While previous years have featured cheating scandals, the 2023 season will see the couples actively encouraged to swap partners.

The relationships ‘will be tested like never before when a partner-swapping task is introduced,’ an on-set source told Daily Mail Australia.

‘They’ve really upped the ante this year. They made different couples swap partners for three days and it was hell for all involved,’ the insider added.

‘I don’t know if it was because there were too many couples in the end and they just wanted to test who was genuine or not, or they just wanted to shake things up.

‘Some participants refused to do it. They didn’t see the point of it and were like, “No way this would happen on the outside world.”‘

The insider claimed the partner-swapping task was given the green light by relationship experts John Aiken, Alessandra Rampolla and Mel Schilling.

Participants had to live with another partner at Skye Suites, the Sydney apartment building where MAFS is filmed, for three days to test their chemistry ‘while doing their best to avoid temptation,’ added the source.

The decision to include this task surprised many after the experts condemned Daniel Holmes and Carolina Santos for cheating on their partners on this year’s season.

Carolina and Daniel were unceremoniously kicked off the show and told they weren’t allowed to continue as a new couple, despite falling for one another.

The pair, who have since split, were ridiculed by the experts and their co-stars for even suggesting they should be permitted to re-enter the experiment.
