Shelley Craft expects ‘frenzied bidding’ at The Block auctions… after fears of ‘no sale’

Shelley Craft is expecting ‘frenzied bidding’ for The Block’s new homes when they go to auction this Sunday.

The presenter, 46, who co-hosts the Channel Nine ratings winner with Scott Cam,  says she is confident the houses will reach their $4million to $4.4million price guides. 

Craft described the five properties in Gisbourne, Victoria, as ‘prestigious’.

She said the 10 acre properties are ‘manageable’ and would make an ideal weekender or family home.

She added that Gisborne’s location in the Macedon ranges makes a convenient and appealing commute to Melbourne, which is only an hour away.

‘It’s a great opportunity for five lucky people to have a bit of lifestyle change,’ she told Now to Love.

Appearing on Nine’s Today breakfast program on Friday Cam admitted he was ‘nervous’ the contestants’ renovated properties won’t be offloaded.  

Cam, 59, said rising interest rates and falling house prices meant this year’s Blockheads face challenges previous contestants didn’t.

‘There’s a bit of trepidation from the buying public. I am very nervous,’ he said on Today.

He added that the contestants’ hard work deserved to be rewarded and he would be gutted if they lost out.

Despite promises of big sales, some real estate experts have expressed concern the properties won’t sell for within their $4million to $4.4million price guides.

This is because the median house price in the Gisborne area is about $1.1million.

However, sources at Nine are confident the homes will smash their reserves because of their ultra-stylish designs, great location and resale potential.
