Carrie Bickmore has revealed she definitely won’t be following the advice of one woman who washes her toilet brush in the dishwasher because ‘it’s like new again’.
The anonymous woman, who is thought to be UK-based, made the admission in a post on parenting forum Mumsnet.
The Project host said on Tuesday night’s show that she suspected the woman ‘just never wants visitors again… Once you do that no one is ever going to pop around’.
‘Not to mention nothing is ever fully clean when it’s done in the dishwasher,’ she added, appearing queasy after discussing the cleaning ‘hack’.
Co-host Tommy Little said he would just ‘splurge out’ and buy a new one.

A woman said she washed her toilet brush in the dishwasher every few months
The anonymous woman’s post said: ‘I clean my toilet brush in the dishwasher every few months.
‘I just put the brush and holder in, on their own, on a hot wash and they come out like new.
‘A friend popped by this morning for coffee, and I opened the dishwasher to get out a couple of mugs, forgetting that I had put the toilet items in last night.
‘She totally freaked out, saying this is totally disgusting, and re-washed the mugs I had then taken out from the cupboard AND poured boiling water on them before she would allow me to make her coffee!!
‘Was my friend being unreasonable? The mugs and loo bush were washed in separate loads!’
According to the anonymous UK-based poster, a friend ‘freaked out’ after realising that the toilet brush had been in the dishwasher
The vast majority of respondents felt that washing a toilet brush is unhygienic, with one simply describing the post as ‘utterly rank’.
Another wrote: ‘That is absolutely disgusting.’
And a third added: ‘I’m with your friend here. How on earth could you even contemplate putting a toilet brush and holder into your dishwasher.’
Meanwhile a fourth commented: ‘You do realise the first rinse in the dishwasher is recycled water? So you are washing your pots in poo.’
Some respondents criticised the poster, branding her ‘disgusting’ and ‘lazy’ due to the habit, which they called ‘totally rank’
However, some agreed with the poster, and said it was fine to put implements like toilet brushers in the dishwasher.
One wrote: ‘It’s fine. My ex partner used to do the same. We’re both still alive. And still friends.
‘You can make me a cuppa anytime. I spend my entire life making my own tea.’
Another added: ‘Well if your dishwasher gets hot enough then I don’t see a problem with it from a hygiene perspective, though I can understand it making people squeamish.
‘(If this actually happened) I’d have laughed and told you how horrified mumsnet would be, while drinking my tea.
A small minority of respondents felt that washing a toilet brush in the dishwasher is acceptable – with one even saying it is hygienic
